12/09/2024
December 9, 2024 I Reutlingen, Germany – Foxconn Interconnect Technology (FIT), a leading electronics manufacturer, today announced that Martin Weidlich will assume the role of Managing Director of the newly founded FIT Mobility GmbH, effective January 1, 2025. This decision is aligned with FIT’s “3+3” vision, which identifies the mobility and electric vehicle industry as a key growth driver.
The announcement follows FIT’s recent acquisition of the Auto-Kabel Group, a leading German e-mobility supplier. The company, which will operate as Voltaira Autokabel, brings significant expertise in automotive electrical components and power distribution to FIT’s mobility business.
Under Mr. Weidlich’s leadership, FIT Mobility GmbH will serve as a unified face under the Voltaira brand, providing a seamless and integrated experience. While customers will benefit from the combined strengths of its divisions, FIT Voltaira Autokabel Gruppe (formerly Auto-Kabel Group) and FIT Voltaira Group GmbH (formerly Prettl SWH), they will also have access to the broader capabilities and innovation of the parent company, FIT. This structure ensures a streamlined partnership without compromising the depth of expertise and specialized know-how within the organization.
” I’m delighted to lead Voltaira, FIT’s mobility business unit, at such an exciting time,” said Martin Weidlich. “Our global team of 11,500 talented people in more than 50 locations will work together to deliver innovative end-to-end electrification, sensor, and connectivity solutions.”
Chris Lu, Global COO of Foxconn Interconnect Technology, added: “Martin’s extensive experience in the automotive supplier industry makes him the ideal leader for our mobility business unit. His expertise will enable us to realize synergies and unlock new growth opportunities in the evolving mobility landscape.”
Mr. Weidlich brings over 25 years of leadership experience in the automotive sector, including his recent role as a member of the Executive Board at Mahle, where he led a business unit with 10,000 employees. He also held senior positions at Benteler, where he drove global transformation initiatives. Mr. Weidlich holds a degree in engineering and technical business management from the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne, Germany.
